Honor Power 2 Is Officially Launching Soon — And the Battery Is Seriously Huge

Honor has finally confirmed the launch date of its next smartphone, the Honor Power 2, and the company is clearly betting big on one thing this time — battery life.

The phone has been teased on Weibo, and from what Honor has revealed so far, the Power 2 is shaping up to be a phone made for people who hate charging their device again and again. It will replace last year’s Honor Power and brings a noticeable upgrade in both battery size and charging speed.

Honor Power 2 Launch Date: Here’s When It’s Coming

The Honor Power 2 will launch in China on January 5, with the event starting at 7:30 PM local time (5:00 PM IST).

Honor hasn’t shared pricing details yet, but it has already confirmed some important features — and the battery is easily the biggest highlight.

A 10,080mAh Battery — Yes, You Read That Right

The Honor Power 2 will come with a 10,080mAh battery, which is the largest battery Honor has ever put inside a smartphone.

According to the company, this massive battery can deliver:

  • Around 20 hours of screen usage
  • Nearly 22 hours of short-video watching
  • Up to 14 hours of gaming on a single charge

Despite the huge battery size, Honor is also offering 80W fast charging, so you won’t have to wait forever to top it up. The phone will also support 27W reverse charging, meaning it can charge other devices when needed.

Design, Colours and Performance Details

Teaser images show the Honor Power 2 in Black, Orange, and White colour options. The official names of these colours haven’t been revealed yet, but they look clean and modern.

The phone features a large rear camera module, and its design does resemble the camera layout seen on recent iPhones. Honor has confirmed that the phone will run on the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Elite processor, which should be more than capable for daily use, gaming, and multitasking.

Expected Specs at a Glance

Based on leaks and early reports, here’s what the Honor Power 2 is expected to offer:

  • 6.79-inch flat display
  • 1.5K resolution
  • 120Hz refresh rate
  • Very high peak brightness (up to 8,000 nits, as per leaks)
  • 50MP rear camera
  • 16MP front camera
  • Android 16-based MagicOS 10
  • Slim body considering the battery size
  • Weight around 216 grams

If these details turn out to be accurate, Honor has managed to pack a huge battery without making the phone feel too bulky.

How Big of an Upgrade Is This?

The original Honor Power, launched last year, came with an 8,000mAh battery and 66W charging. The Honor Power 2 takes things much further with:

  • A significantly larger battery
  • Faster charging
  • A newer MediaTek chipset

For users who care about long battery life above everything else, this is a clear step forward.

Final Thoughts

The Honor Power 2 looks like a phone designed for heavy users — gamers, binge-watchers, travellers, or anyone tired of carrying a power bank.

A 10,080mAh battery combined with fast charging is rare, especially in a phone that still looks slim on paper. If Honor gets the pricing right, the Power 2 could easily stand out in the premium mid-range segment
